Fake news about an attack on a Ukrainian couple in Wrocław is being spread in Poland
Manipulative claims regarding an attack on a Ukrainian couple in Wrocław are circulating on Polish social media. The posts allege that the Ukrainians themselves provoked the conflict and that the male victim was carrying a stun gun.
However, the District Prosecutor’s Office in Wrocław has officially refuted these claims. According to the investigation, the evidence gathered does not support the version of events suggesting any provocation on the part of the Ukrainian citizens.
Law enforcement officials emphasize that the information circulating on social media does not correspond to the established facts. The investigation into the attack is ongoing, and the circumstances of the incident are being determined based on evidence, not rumors or online posts.
The man was indeed carrying a device (presumably a flashlight with a stun gun function), but he took it out solely during the attack for self-defense. The attackers knocked the device out of the victim’s hands and took it from him.
The police have detained the assailants. They have been charged with assault and violence on the basis of national origin.
