A Ukrainian memorial site in Poland has been desecrated again
In Poland’s Lublin Voivodeship, unknown individuals have once again vandalized a Ukrainian memorial site in the Bialystok area near the village of Liski. The Ukrainian Embassy expressed outrage over the incident and called on Polish authorities to promptly investigate the act of vandalism.
The diplomatic mission emphasized that desecration of burial sites and memorials is unacceptable, regardless of the complex chapters of shared history. It also noted that this incident occurred amid a rise in acts of hostility and attacks against Ukrainians in Poland.
The embassy called on the competent authorities to identify the perpetrators, hold them accountable, and restore the damaged memorial site, emphasizing that historical memory should not be used as a tool to incite hostility.

Earlier, Jana Černochová, a former Czech defense minister and member of the Chamber of Deputies, called the far-right SPD party’s initiative to strip Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the Order of the White Lion “baseless” and “shameful.”
The Czech right-wing populist SPD party stated that it would seek to strip Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the Czech Republic’s highest state award—the Order of the White Lion.
The decision to revoke Poland’s highest state honor, the Order of the White Eagle, from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is not a unilateral act by the president. Under Polish procedure, the president may initiate the revocation of an award, but the corresponding act requires the countersignature (co-signature) of the Prime Minister of Poland.
