In Portugal, drivers took to the streets to protest high gas prices
On the morning of September 7 in Lisbon, drivers staged a protest against rising fuel prices. The demonstration took place along the “April 25” Bridge.
On the “25 de Abril” Bridge in Lisbon, during rush hour at 8:00 a.m., drivers honked their horns en masse in protest against rising prices.
Last Friday, September 4, the government announced an increase in the fuel subsidy of three cents to curb the record rise in prices. The price of diesel could reach 2.17 euros per liter, and gasoline could reach 2.12 euros. This week, prices rose by more than 10 and 8 cents for diesel and gasoline, respectively.
This is one of the largest price hikes since the start of the conflict between the U.S. and Iran, notes RTP. However, according to Portugal’s fuel pricing policy, each gas station sets its own prices.
