Transnistria Has Extended Its Economic State of Emergency

Transnistria Has Extended Its Economic State of Emergency

In unrecognized Transnistria, authorities have decided to extend the state of emergency in the economic sector. The restrictions will remain in effect until nearly the end of August.

On July 20, the so-called parliament of the unrecognized region approved a decree by Transnistrian leader Vadim Krasnoselsky to extend the economic state of emergency until August 20.

The decision was justified by a “severe economic crisis caused by a decline in production volumes,” and officials explained that this regime allows for the regulation of energy consumption and exports and the allocation of funds “toward measures to protect the lives and health of citizens.”
