In Russia, books by Pushkin, Gogol, and Turgenev have begun to be labeled due to a law on "drug propaganda"

In Russia, online services have begun labeling works of classical literature with warnings about alleged "drug propaganda."

This was reported by “Verstka.”

This applies, in particular, to books by Alexander Pushkin, Nikolai Gogol, and Ivan Turgenev. The labels appeared on the “Litres” and “KION Stroki” platforms, as well as in product listings on Ozon.

Among the works flagged are Pushkin’s poetry, Gogol’s “The Nose,” “Viy,” and “The Overcoat,” as well as Turgenev’s “Asya” and “Fathers and Sons.”

Labels also appeared on works by Leo Tolstoy and Mikhail Bulgakov, including the novels *The Master and Margarita* and *The White Guard*, as well as the novella *Morphine*.

At the same time, none of these works were included in the list of books previously recommended for labeling under the law.

Earlier, the Russian State Duma stated that classical literature would not fall under the provisions regarding “drug propaganda.”

Russian state sociological services continue to record a decline in support for President Vladimir Putin amid the blocking of Telegram, restrictions on VPNs, and internet outages in the country.

As a reminder, Putin announced an Easter truce.
