Russia will begin harvesting jellyfish for food

Russia plans to begin large-scale jellyfish harvesting in the Sea of Azov in 2026 for further processing, particularly for food purposes.

This is reported by Russian media.

According to Rosrybolovstvo, approximately 1 million tons of jellyfish have accumulated in the waters of the Azov Sea due to increased water salinity.

An experimental harvest is scheduled to begin in July, particularly in resort areas.

Part of the harvested jellyfish is planned to be used for the production of gelatin and collagen, as well as for food products.

Earlier, Russian scientists announced the development of a technology for salting jellyfish, which, according to them, can be used in salads and other dishes.

In Russian regions, heads of state and budgetary institutions have begun to be punished for failing to meet recruitment quotas for the war against Ukraine.
