Russia will double the size of its no-fly zones
The Russian Ministry of Transport plans to expand the list of areas where flights are prohibited. It intends to add zones above facilities in the fuel and energy and defense-industrial sectors, as well as transportation infrastructure.
According to Kommersant, the new list includes 818 zones across Russia, compared to the current 374. The restrictions will also apply to drones. Exceptions will be made for aircraft belonging to the Russian Ministry of Defense and for aircraft serving the interests of oil companies.
The new rules are scheduled to take effect following the publication of the relevant order and are intended to remain in force indefinitely.
Russia has sharply increased the number of Shahed drones.
Against this backdrop, Ukraine is trying to strengthen its defenses against this new threat. Jet-powered “Shaheds” are becoming part of Russian tactics, and Ukrainian developers are already looking for ways to intercept them with faster drones. Yuriy Ignat, head of the Communications Department of the Ukrainian Air Force Command, spoke about this in a comment to Business Insider.
A court in Moscow, in the Russian Federation—the aggressor state—has ruled to bar the liberal Yabloko party from participating in the parliamentary elections scheduled for next month. “Yabloko” was the only registered party in the country that opposed Russia’s war against Ukraine, according to BBC News.
