Romania has issued an alert over aerial targets near the border with Ukraine
In the northern part of the Romanian county of Tulcea, an air raid alert was issued on the afternoon of September 10 due to a group of aerial targets detected near the border with Ukraine.
At around 3:00 p.m., Romanian military radars detected aerial objects near the Ukrainian border, not far from Zmiinyi Island. To assess the situation, the Romanian military scrambled two F-18 fighter jets and an IAR 330 Puma SOCAT helicopter.
Following this, the National Military Command Center instructed civil defense services to alert the public. Around 3:50 p.m., residents in the northern part of the county received a RO-Alert notification.
People were urged to take shelter in bomb shelters or basements. If none were available, they were advised to remain inside buildings, stay away from windows and exterior walls, and remain calm.
The alert was expected to remain in effect for about 90 minutes.
