Another fake featuring the customs service logo has been uncovered in Romania
The Romanian Customs Service stated that reports of the alleged seizure of 75 kilograms of cocaine in packages bearing a photograph of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are untrue. The agency emphasized that this is yet another hoax, for which unknown individuals used fake photos and the logo of a government agency.
The Customs Service also urged citizens to trust only official sources of information and not to spread false reports.
The agency stated that in recent days, false information has been actively circulating online about the alleged seizure of a large shipment of cocaine packaged in bags bearing the image of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Customs officials emphasized that they had not carried out any such operation. “A ‘news’ story is circulating online claiming that the Romanian Customs Service allegedly seized 75 kg of cocaine packaged in bags bearing the image of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This information is false. Our agency has not carried out any such operations and has not issued any statements on this matter,” the statement reads.
The agency also noted that the authors of the hoax used its official logo without permission. According to agency representatives, a doctored image is circulating online, onto which the customs service’s logo was illegally superimposed to make the information seem more credible.
In addition, the scammers created a fake screenshot that mimics the agency’s official website. “A fabricated screenshot that mimics our official website is also being circulated, along with a ‘notice’ that we have never published,” the Customs Service emphasized.
The agency urged citizens to be vigilant about such messages and to verify information only through official government resources and trusted media outlets. The Customs Service emphasized that the use of forged documents, logos, and fake announcements is one of the most common methods of spreading disinformation, so users should approach such social media posts with a critical eye. This was reported by Digi24, citing a statement from the Romanian Customs Service.
