Up to 5,000 migrants from Morocco remain in Ceuta
There are still between 3,000 and 5,000 migrants from Morocco in the Spanish autonomous city of Ceuta. The city’s mayor, Juan Jesús Vivas, made this statement on Monday.
According to “European Truth,” citing El Faro de Ceuta, Vivas noted that the situation in the city is already different from what it was on Thursday and Friday during the mass influx of undocumented migrants. At the same time, he said, efforts are still needed to fully restore normal life in Ceuta.
The mayor stated that Spain’s territorial integrity in Ceuta was violated by an “avalanche of 80,000 people.” According to him, this figure is practically equal to the total population of the autonomous city. Vivas also acknowledged the emotional impact of the crisis on local residents.

“The anxiety, fear, and sense of helplessness experienced by the residents of Ceuta still linger in our collective mood,” he said.
One of the main challenges for city authorities remains providing assistance to unaccompanied foreign minors. According to estimates by Ceuta authorities, following the mass influx of undocumented migrants, more than a thousand children and adolescents are under their care. Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares stated that the migrants who have flooded into Ceuta will be returned to Morocco “to the very last one.”
