At least one killed, four injured at school in Philippines — Jerusalem Post
In the city of Banga, in South Cotabato province in the southern Philippines, at least one person was killed and four others were injured in a shooting at a senior high school. Provincial Governor Reynaldo Tamayo told Reuters.
Information about the victims
Police had earlier confirmed that the shooting occurred. Police Chief Master Sergeant Reggie Faderon told Reuters that there were injured people and that law enforcement officers were checking additional details.
Tamayo provided no details about the shooter or the victims. The Philippine Department of Education said it was deeply concerned by reports of the incident in Banga, the Jerusalem Post reports.
Previous cases
The incident was the third school shooting in the south of the country since June. Previously, such incidents had been rare in the Philippines.

In June, at least three students were killed and about 20 other people were injured during an attack at a public senior high school in the city of Tacloban. According to the publication, two classmates opened fire on school grounds.
The Philippines has relatively strict gun ownership rules, including background check and psychological assessment requirements. At the same time, illegal firearms remain in circulation in the country.
