NSCDC chief replaced in Niger State amid death investigation — Premium Times Nigeria
In Minna, Niger State, Nigeria, Abdulhamid Kabara took command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the state, replacing Suberu Anivie. The handover took place on September 19 amid an investigation into the deaths of people detained in connection with suspicions of illegal mining, Premium Times Nigeria reports.
Statement by the new commandant
In a statement from the command's press service, Kabara expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and other people affected by the incident. He said the NSCDC would continue to carry out its legally defined duties, including detention, investigations, law enforcement activities, and combating illegal mining.
The new commandant also stressed that the value of human life must remain the top priority. He expressed sympathy to the families who lost loved ones.

Protection of people in custody
According to Kabara, the performance of law enforcement duties must be combined with protecting the dignity, safety, and well-being of people in custody. He also prayed for the deceased and asked Allah to give their families strength and patience to endure the loss.
The statement was signed on behalf of the commandant by Abubakar Muti, the NSCDC spokesperson in Niger State.
