New head of civil service appointed in Zamfara State

Dauda Lawal, governor of Nigeria’s Zamfara State, has approved the appointment of Shehu Baraya as the new head of the state civil service. According to Premium Times Nigeria, the decision took effect immediately. The appointment was announced by the state government secretary, Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada.

Replacement following retirement

Baraya replaced Yakubu Sani Haidara, who recently retired after many years of service in Zamfara’s civil service. Lawal thanked Haidara for his service and contribution to the development of the state civil service and wished him a successful life after the end of his career.

Experience of the new official

Baraya is a career civil servant with experience working in state government bodies. He previously held permanent secretary positions in several ministries. Immediately before his new appointment, Baraya was the permanent secretary of the Zamfara State Civil Service Commission.

The governor instructed the new head to use his experience to strengthen professionalism and discipline and to increase the productivity and efficiency of the civil service. According to the publication, these tasks align with the objectives of the state administration’s Rescue Agenda programme.
