Emergency services arrived at the scene and are currently investigating the cause of the accident and assessing whether there is a risk of further collapse. The emergency call was received on Saturday, July 18, at approximately 8:20 a.m. At that time, the shopping center was not yet open to most visitors. Only grocery stores located near the site of the collapse were open.
Following the incident, the area around the hazardous site was cordoned off, and the mall’s staff were evacuated. “Part of the roof collapsed, but we don’t yet know the cause. The area has been cordoned off so that no one can enter the danger zone,” said Peter Gustafsson from the emergency services command center.
According to him, rescue workers are continuing to gather information and assess the condition of the building. “We are continuing to gather information and checking whether there is a risk of further collapse,” he added.
There are no reported injuries at this time
No ambulances were called to the scene. According to preliminary information, no one was injured. The mall’s manager stated that it is not yet possible to accurately assess the extent of the damage.
Experts must inspect the building’s structure to determine the cause of the collapse and assess whether it is safe to reopen the shopping center to visitors. Emergency services are currently continuing their work at the scene, according to the Swedish television channel SVT.
