Executives of a Russian company have been detained in Sweden on suspicion of circumventing sanctions
Two individuals believed to be executives of a Russian company have been detained in the Swedish city of Sundsvall on suspicion of serious sanctions violations.
This was reported by the Sweden Herald.
The arrests followed searches at the Kubal aluminum plant, which is linked to Russia. The operation involved, among others, members of the national task force.
According to the investigation, the suspects were detained as persons of initial interest.
State Prosecutor Sara Nilsson stated that the case involves potential crimes that could pose a threat to the security of Sweden and Europe.
The case is classified as a violation of international sanctions aimed at restricting the movement of goods, services, and individuals linked to violations of international law.
As a reminder, Sweden confirmed the Russian origin of the drone that spied on a French aircraft carrier.
Sweden also allows for the deployment of nuclear weapons on its territory in the event of war.
