In Singapore, police interviewed five people over comments about floods in Nepal and Air India
Singapore police identified and interviewed five people aged between 29 and 66 over online comments concerning floods in Nepal and Singapore Airlines’ investment in Air India. Law enforcement officials confirmed that they had received police reports and were investigating individual posts on the internet.
Investigation into the comments
As Channel NewsAsia reports, police said they would continue their investigations and identify the people responsible for the comments. As the investigations are ongoing, law enforcement officials did not provide details about the specific cases.
Police noted that they take seriously conduct that may offend racial feelings or promote hostility and ill will between different racial groups.

Minister’s reaction
Earlier, Senior Minister K. Shanmugam told journalists that police were looking into racist and xenophobic comments related to the disaster in Nepal and Tibet and Singapore Airlines’ investment in Air India.
According to him, the Ministry of Digital Development and Information will also approach social platforms with requests to remove comments that violate the rules. Shanmugam, who is also Minister for Home Affairs and Coordinating Minister for National Security, called such posts disgraceful, offensive and unacceptable.
