In the US, Fetterman says he cannot compete with Piker — The Hill
US Senator from Pennsylvania John Fetterman said that he cannot compete with the popularity of left-wing streamer Hasan Piker among supporters of the Democratic Party. He said this in a comment to Fox News following Piker's remarks about the terrorist group Al-Qaeda, The Hill reports.
According to Fetterman, Piker said that the United States is worse than Al-Qaeda. The senator also said that Democrats campaign alongside the streamer and defend him, while the party base supports him.
Piker's remarks
In an interview with Axios, Piker claimed that the United States commits more terrorism than Al-Qaeda when the number of deaths is compared. He also stated that the United States has caused significant terror in different parts of the world.
Piker is one of the most popular streamers on the Twitch platform. During the Democratic primaries, he campaigned alongside Michigan US Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed. Republicans criticized El-Sayed over this connection and ran ads featuring a clip of Piker's 2019 statement that America “deserved 9/11.” The streamer later apologized for this wording.

El-Sayed's reaction
The official Republican Party social media account published a video featuring Piker's latest statements and called on the Democrats he supports to condemn the streamer.
El-Sayed told Axios that he disagrees with Piker's words and does not place much importance on the streamer's statements. He added that he is more concerned about the policies of Donald Trump and his Republican opponent Mike Rogers, which, according to the candidate, raise the prices of fuel, food, and medical services for Michigan residents.
At the end of the previous month, El-Sayed also said that he does not plan to campaign alongside Piker as the midterm elections approach. In a The Hill/Emerson College Polling survey, he was ahead of Rogers by two percentage points. The Cook Political Report assesses the race for Michigan's Senate seat as one in which the candidates' chances are roughly equal.
