Finnish businessman and entrepreneur Toivo Sukari recounted how more than ten years ago in Turku, while rushing to a meeting, he mistakenly entered an office where a gynecologist was examining a patient. Sukari spoke about the incident in a series about life mistakes, YLE News reports.
Rushing because he was late
According to the entrepreneur, he was late for a marketing group meeting that was to take place on the top floor of the building. Sukari parked his car and hurried into the building without having time to pay for parking. After taking the elevator up, he noticed an ajar door in the corridor and decided it had been left open for him.
The man went inside and found himself in another corridor with several doors, then opened the first of them, believing he had arrived at the planned meeting. Instead, a gynecologist and a patient on an examination table were in the room.

The mistake became apparent immediately
Sukari said that everyone present was confused and began apologizing. In his estimate, the situation lasted about ten seconds, but seemed much longer to him. He quickly left the office and discovered that the stairs led one more floor up.
Eventually, the businessman found the right room and arrived at the meeting, but did not tell its participants the reason for his lateness. Sukari noted that the incident taught him to pause for a moment even when in a hurry and to arrive early. He also advised against assuming that an ajar door is necessarily meant for you.
