Türkiye’s unemployment rate fell to 7.8% in August — Anadolu Agency
In Türkiye, the unemployment rate fell to 7.8% in August from 8.1% in July. The number of unemployed people aged 15 and over decreased by 106,000 over the month to 2.74 million, Anadolu Agency reports, citing the Turkish Statistical Institute TurkStat.
Employment increased
The number of employed people in the country rose by 136,000 to reach 32.51 million. The employment rate increased by 0.1 percentage points to 48.4%.
Among men, the employment rate stood at 65.8%, while among women it was 31.5%. The unemployment rate was 6.6% among men and 10.1% among women.

Youth and working hours indicators
The labor force participation rate remained at 52.5%, although the total labor force increased by 29,000 to 35.25 million people. The rate was 70.5% for men and 35% for women.
Youth unemployment among people aged 15–24 fell by 1.1 percentage points to 13%. The rate was 9.7% among men and 19.4% among women. The average actual weekly working time for employed people increased by 0.5 hours to 42.5 hours.
