Australian court allows North Adelaide golf course redevelopment to continue — ABC News Australia

According to ABC News Australia, the Federal Court of Australia dismissed a lawsuit by two South Australian residents who sought to halt tree clearing for the redevelopment of the North Adelaide golf course in Adelaide. The court also lifted an interim injunction on the work, meaning construction can resume.

Lawsuit against the redevelopment

Public servant Edwin Kemp Attrill and Janette Milera, a Kaurna-Arabana woman, filed a lawsuit against the South Australian government at the beginning of the year. They argued that the redevelopment project violated federal environmental protection legislation.

Tree clearing and appeal

During hearings last month, it was reported that 400 trees had already been cut down as part of the project at that time. The state government had previously said that 585 trees would ultimately be cut down.

The interim injunction was imposed for the duration of the case. Edwin Kemp Attrill and Janette Milera have 28 days to appeal the Federal Court's decision.
