In Turkey, OpenAI and Anthropic chiefs call for cooperation on AI — Anadolu Agency
In Turkey, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei called for international cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence at a UN Security Council meeting. They stressed that the risks of this technology cannot be effectively managed by a single country or company, Anadolu Agency reports.
Democratic decisions on AI
Altman said that the development of artificial intelligence could become either a new renaissance of creativity and discovery or an industrial revolution that would cause upheaval and disorder. According to him, AI should be created for people, not only to accelerate the work of machines.
He also warned that no individual, company, or country should be able to use the most powerful AI models to impose its own worldview on others. Altman stressed that decisions on artificial intelligence should not be made solely by laboratories in San Francisco, but should be shaped through democratic processes and governments accountable to citizens.

Risks and global standards
Amodei named two main risks: misuse of AI models, including for creating biological weapons, and the acceleration of their capabilities beyond developers' ability to control the systems. He noted that if improperly managed, artificial intelligence could pose a risk to all humanity.
The Anthropic CEO said that the company is ready to slow the release of new systems as much as necessary to ensure safety. At the same time, he stressed that managing such risks has an industry-wide and global dimension, and called for common global standards for testing models for risks of loss of control and misuse.
Yoshua Bengio, co-chair of the UN International Independent Scientific Panel on Artificial Intelligence, urged people not to consider competition between companies inevitable. According to him, this “race” is the result of decisions made by the companies themselves and threatens every country, despite fragile trust between states.
