Passengers were evacuated from Warsaw's Chopin Airport due to a suspicious suitcase
On the evening of September 15, some passengers and staff were evacuated from Warsaw’s Frederic Chopin Airport after unattended luggage was discovered. Bomb disposal experts from the Border Guard arrived at the scene to examine the suspicious object.
Security measures began shortly before 7:00 p.m. The evacuation took place in Departure Terminals A and B, as well as in the arrivals area near Entrance A1. Private vehicle traffic in the departure area was temporarily suspended, with only city buses permitted to pass. The duration of the inspection and the potential impact of the incident on the flight schedule are currently being determined.
This was reported by Paweł Chmura, a spokesperson for the Warsaw Police Headquarters, in a statement to tvn24.pl.
Polish military officials have not yet been able to determine whether there are explosives inside the Russian drone found in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. Experts attempted to examine the drone using an X-ray, but its casing blocks the rays. The military is now looking for another way to look inside and wants to keep the drone intact.
