Negotiations between the government and part of the opposition, with U.S. support, are planned in Venezuela
The Venezuelan government and part of the opposition plan to hold talks with U.S. support. This was reported by Al Jazeera English in an episode of the program *Inside Story* dedicated to Washington’s role in Venezuelan politics and the economy.
According to the network, Washington has been interfering in Venezuela’s political and economic affairs over the past seven months. Al Jazeera also reports that in January, U.S. forces captured President Nicolás Maduro and transported him to New York, where he is to face charges of drug trafficking.

The network claims that the U.S. determines how Venezuela gains access to oil revenues, which form the backbone of its economy. According to Al Jazeera, interim leader Delcy Rodríguez supports this, while Washington is facilitating negotiations between the Venezuelan government and opposition groups.
At the same time, Al Jazeera reports that prominent opposition figure María Corina Machado has been sidelined from this process.
