Yemen government expands public support for troops at the front — Asharq Al-Awsat
The Yemeni government is expanding the involvement of public groups and provinces in supporting the armed forces on the front lines. This includes supplying fighters with food, petroleum products, fuel, and other necessary materials, Asharq Al-Awsat reports.
Military Support Committee
Yemen’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Nayef al-Bakri, who heads the committee for popular and government support for the armed forces, said that the committee is working on the instructions of Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad Muhammad al-Alimi, council members, and the prime minister.
According to the minister, the committee is tasked with organizing and intensifying public support for the armed forces and fighters on various fronts. It includes representatives of the ministries of interior, defense, social affairs, transport, health, and industry.
The expanded committee brings together representatives from more than 15 provinces. Its task is to coordinate local efforts and strengthen mobilization.

Assistance from provinces
Al-Bakri said that several provinces, including Socotra, are preparing aid convoys for combat areas. Support also includes blood donations and assistance to provincial blood banks.
The minister named the fronts in Taiz, Hodeidah, Lahij, Al-Dhale, Marib, Al-Jawf, and Shabwa as priority areas. He described the fighting for Taiz as decisive. At the same time, al-Bakri noted that recruiting young people into the armed forces falls under the responsibility of military authorities, not the support committee.
The minister also said that the Houthis, whom he described as an Iran-backed group, pose a threat to Yemen and regional stability through attempts to undermine the security of shipping and regional waters. Al-Bakri expressed expectations of advances by government forces in several directions, including Taiz, Kahbub, and Shabwa.
