Government forces say they recaptured Mount Numan in Taiz province — Asharq Al-Awsat
In Yemen, government forces said they regained control on Sunday of the strategic Mount Numan in the west of Taiz province after fighting with the Houthis. According to Asharq Al-Awsat, the mountain west of Jabal Habashi was taken by the Taiz Axis Forces.
Military and local sources said that the recapture of Mount Numan connected the Bani Bakari and Al-Qada fronts and helped secure the Bani Bakari–Al-Ashruh–Al-Bireen road. Control of the high ground, they said, placed Houthi positions in the Ash-Sharajah area within the firing range of government forces and gave them a commanding height near routes to the western coast.
Fighting for high ground
Hostilities in western and southwestern Taiz are focused around the heights of Rasn, Numan, Jarda, Al-Qada and Al-Waziya. Field sources said that the Houthis are trying to seize the heights in order to consolidate their positions in recently captured coastal areas, secure supply routes and advance forces southward.

Government troops and allied tribal units, according to sources, repelled Houthi attacks in the Ad-Damdam, Sharira and Al-Waziya areas. Attempts to advance toward Mount Rasn also failed. The line of control near Mount Jarda in the Bani Omar area reportedly remained unchanged after an unsuccessful Houthi attack.
Casualties on the provincial border
AFP, citing military sources, reported that at least 48 people were killed during 24 hours of fighting along the border between Taiz and Lahj provinces: 17 government forces personnel and 31 Houthi fighters. The government-affiliated Tur al-Baha military front also said that 13 of its fighters had been killed over the previous two days.
According to the publication, the Houthis held funerals for about 75 of their members from ten Yemeni provinces, including around 25 with high military ranks. Clashes also continued on other fronts, including in Al-Bayda and Marib provinces.
