At O. R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, South Africa, police made two cocaine seizures over four days and arrested two passengers bound for Hong Kong. TimesLIVE reports, citing police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amanda van Wyk.
Arrest with two kilograms of cocaine
According to van Wyk, law enforcement officers arrested a 45-year-old suspected drug trafficker on Monday. About 2 kg of cocaine, which police estimated to be worth 800,000 rand, was found in his luggage.
The detainee was bound for Hong Kong. It was the second cocaine seizure at O. R. Tambo Airport in four days.

Arrest on September 3
On September 3, a 54-year-old South African citizen who was also bound for Hong Kong was arrested at the same airport. According to police, cocaine was concealed in his luggage.
In addition, two separate cocaine shipments with a combined estimated value of 200 million rand were intercepted at the airport a week earlier. Van Wyk said the series of seizures demonstrates police efforts to counter and dismantle drug-trafficking networks at the country’s points of entry.
