A training helicopter crashed in Ankara

In Ankara, the capital of Turkey, a training helicopter, an R-44 owned by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ), crashed. 

The crash killed the flight instructor, and one other person was injured.

According to Turkish media reports, the helicopter crashed in an open area near Sinjan. The victim was retired Colonel Yasa Ozdin Bakkal, who worked as an instructor. Turkish Air Force Major Bilgehan Kurtoglu, who was undergoing flight training, is in the hospital.

Rescue workers, medical personnel, and law enforcement officers were on the scene of the crash. The prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation, and a team of experts will determine the causes of the crash.

On June 30, a Mi-8 helicopter crashed while carrying out a combat mission to intercept Russian drones. All four crew members were killed in the crash.

An unidentified unmanned aerial vehicle crashed in Turkey’s Black Sea region, followed by an explosion. Law enforcement and relevant agencies are currently determining the drone’s origin and the circumstances of the incident.
