Motorcyclist dies in Australia after hitting pothole on highway
In the Australian state of Victoria, a 71-year-old motorcyclist died after his motorcycle reportedly hit a pothole on the Western Highway. This was reported by ABC News Australia.
Crash circumstances
Victoria Police said emergency services were called to the Western Highway in Trawalla following reports that a motorcycle hit a pothole and lost control at about 12:50. The rider, a 71-year-old Ballarat resident, died at the scene.

Investigation continues
Police said the exact circumstances of the crash have yet to be established and will be investigated. All westbound lanes on the Western Freeway between Windermere and Beaufort were closed.
Police urged drivers with dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers. Several days before the crash, Victoria's auditor-general reported that nearly half of the state's road network was in poor condition and deteriorating faster than the government could repair it.
