A person linked to the baby food poisoning scandal has been arrested in Austria

Austrian law enforcement authorities have arrested a man in connection with the extortion of funds from the German company HiPP. The company, which manufactures baby food, has been linked to a case involving the discovery of contaminated products.

This was reported by APA on Saturday, May 2.

A 39-year-old man has reportedly been detained.

For investigative reasons, the Burgenland State Police Department did not disclose details on Saturday regarding the location of the arrest or the man’s origin.

As a reminder, in April, the manufacturer HiPP announced a mass product recall in several countries and noted that this was not a mistake but a criminal act that is currently under investigation.

It also emerged that the appearance of HiPP baby food containing rat poison on store shelves in Austria, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia was the work of a perpetrator who demanded a ransom in exchange for not carrying out the act.

As a reminder, the criminals are demanding a ransom from HiPP, threatening to poison children.

Prior to this, rat poison was discovered in HiPP baby food in Austria.
