In Estonia, Isamaa leader Reinsalu calls on the prime minister to resign
In Estonia, Isamaa party leader Urmas Reinsalu called on Prime Minister Kristen Michal and the entire government to resign. According to him, if Michal does not do so, parliament will have grounds to pass a vote of no confidence in him.
This was reported by ERR News. Reinsalu said on social media that the government is increasingly rapidly “collapsing from within.”
Defense minister’s resignation
As an example, the politician cited the resignation of Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur. Last week, Pevkur left his post after problems became known with a €70 million arms procurement contract from the Indian company Datasel.
According to Reinsalu, a week before his resignation, Pevkur insisted that he did not intend to leave his post. The Isamaa leader also stated that only part of the information about the case has become known to the public, while the direct reason for the minister’s resignation, in his view, has still not been disclosed. He accused the authorities of concealing information and said that problems in managing the defense sector demonstrate the Reform Party’s inability to manage national defense.

Personnel changes in the government
Reinsalu also criticized the decision to bring Martin Herem into the position of defense minister instead of appointing a politician from the Reform Party. Herem had previously left his post as commander of the Estonian Defence Forces early while Pevkur was serving as defense minister, and later criticized decisions and inaction on national defense matters.
Separately, the politician mentioned the dismissal of Kaimo Kuusk, who held the position of permanent secretary of the Ministry of Defense. According to Reinsalu, the reason given was irreconcilable differences with the new minister over the organization of national defense. He said the public has the right to know the essence of these differences.
In addition, the Isamaa leader drew attention to the decision by Energy and Environment Minister Andres Sutt to resign. Reinsalu believes that several months before the elections, the Reform Party is trying to bring people from outside politics into the government in order to blur responsibility for its decisions and inaction.
