A peat bog in Estonia, covering an area of about 10 hectares, is on fire
The Ryaama peat bog is on fire in the Tori parish of Pärnu County, Estonia. The fire has spread across approximately 10 hectares, according to ERR News.
A report of the fire at the Ryaama peat bog, located in the village of Kilksama, was received by the emergency response center on Monday at 1:08 p.m. Strong winds are complicating firefighting efforts.
Several hotspots are burning within the peat layer. Rescue workers have deployed drones over the peat bog to survey the area, determine the extent of the fire, and locate all hotspots.

The rescue service has urged residents of Kilksami, Sela, and Lepplaane—located near the Ryama peat bog—to close their doors and windows and shut off their ventilation systems. Local residents and others were also asked not to approach the peat bog out of curiosity.
Professional and volunteer firefighters from Pärnu, Pärnu-Jaagupi, Paide, Häädemeeste, Vändra, Sindi, Aare, and Taali responded to the fire.
