Three opposition parties in Estonia prepare no-confidence vote against Prime Minister Michal
In Estonia, the Isamaa party, the Centre Party and EKRE intend to continue preparing a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Kristen Michal without the participation of the Social Democratic Party. This was reported by ERR News.
Position of opposition parties
Isamaa leader Urmas Reinsalu said that a vote of no confidence in the prime minister, even without the support of the Social Democrats, could demonstrate who supports Michal's government and who does not. According to him, the Social Democratic Party still has an opportunity to reconsider its position.
EKRE chairman Martin Helme also believes that the Social Democrats should be persuaded to join the initiative. At the same time, he said that the other opposition forces should move forward without them if they fail to convince the SDP. In Helme's view, the Social Democrats will have to explain to voters why, in his assessment, they are keeping Michal in power.
Centre Party leader Mihhail Kõlvart said that the party supports further work on the no-confidence motion. At the same time, according to him, parliamentary faction leaders are to discuss the technical aspects of the initiative next week.

Social Democrats will not join
Social Democratic Party chairman Lauri Läänemets called the organization of the vote a political show aimed at holding early elections. He stated that his party would not join the initiative.
Läänemets noted that he could consider a no-confidence motion if Isamaa proposed forming an alternative viable majority government. In his opinion, the opposition parties have no plan for creating a functioning government, while early elections would likely take place around Christmas without a full-fledged pre-election debate.
Next steps
The further course of action regarding the no-confidence motion is expected to become clear on Monday, when the Riigikogu convenes. Representatives of parliamentary factions will be able to discuss the matter and begin work on the text of the initiative.
