Two men were executed in Iran on charges of espionage

Iranian judicial authorities have announced the execution of two men found guilty of collaborating with the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad. They were accused of collecting and passing on classified information about government and strategic facilities. Reuters reported this, citing Iranian media.

Two men—Yagub Karimpour and Nasser Bakarzadeh—were executed in Iran on Saturday on charges of spying for Israel, Iranian media reported, citing Reuters. Following a court ruling, both were found guilty of collaborating with the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad and sentenced to death by hanging.

According to reports by Iranian media, Yagub Karimpour passed information to an Israeli intelligence officer, while Nasser Bakarzadeh, according to the investigation, was engaged in gathering data on government and religious figures, as well as on the country’s strategic facilities. Among these sites, the area near the nuclear facility in Natanz is specifically mentioned.

Iran hangs two men convicted of spying for Israel, the judiciary says, the latest in a string of executions in recent weeks.

Karimpour and Bakarzadeh were accused of systematically collecting intelligence information which, according to the Iranian side, could have been used by foreign intelligence agencies to destabilize the security situation in the country. Judicial authorities stated that the sentences were carried out after all proceedings in the case had been completed.

Iranian media emphasize that cases of espionage on behalf of Israel remain among the most sensitive issues for the country’s internal security, especially against the backdrop of tensions surrounding the nuclear program and the activities of intelligence agencies in the region.

U.S. President Donald Trump sharply criticized the actions of the U.S. Navy in operations against Iran, stating that they were acting “like pirates.” His comments came amid the detention of ships linked to Tehran in various regions of the world.
