In Italy, rescuers are searching for a UK citizen who disappeared in Lake Como after reportedly trying to help two people in distress in the water, Italian media reported. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon near the municipality of San Siro on the lake’s western shore.
Rescue attempt on the water
According to BBC News, the man was on a boat trip with a family he was friends with. Italian media reported that he dived into the water in an attempt to save a father and son who needed help.
The father and son were later picked up by another boat passing nearby. The British man has not been seen since.

Search operation
Emergency services, including a helicopter, divers and boat units, are working at the scene. Italian news agency Ansa reported that the depth of Lake Como in the search area may exceed 200 metres.
The UK Foreign Office said it was supporting the family of the missing British citizen and was in contact with local authorities.
