In Russia, a former editor of a well-known media outlet was sentenced to prison for bribing a police officer

A court in Yekaterinburg, Russia, has sentenced Denis Allayarov, the former editor of URA.RU, to five years in prison after finding him guilty of bribing a law enforcement officer.

This is reported by Russian media.

The investigation established that over the course of a year—from April 2024 to April 2025—the journalist gave money to a police officer in exchange for official information. This information consisted of operational reports that were later used to prepare exclusive news stories.

According to the case file, Allayarov paid a total of 120,000 rubles. The recipient of the funds was his relative—Andrey Karpov, the former head of the criminal investigation department in Yekaterinburg.

During the investigation, Karpov pleaded guilty and testified against his nephew. The court sentenced him to four years’ probation.

As a reminder, searches at the URA.RU newsroom took place a year ago. At that time, law enforcement detained several employees, including Allayarov. The case was opened on charges of illegally obtaining official information through the bribery of a law enforcement officer.

We previously reported that Viktor Goldsky, the owner of the media holding Comments.ua, is attempting to avoid mobilization by using fictitious studies and teaching activities.

As UA.News learned from its own sources, law enforcement officials have already initiated criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (forgery of documents) regarding the businessman’s document fraud.

The Academy of Labor tried in every way to conceal information about the status of its “star” student, citing confidentiality, but under pressure from the criminal case, it was forced to confirm the details of his “academic” career.

Viktor Goldsky, owner of the online publication Comments.ua, filed a lawsuit to protect his honor, dignity, and business reputation against UA.NEWS. A judge at the Pecherskyi District Court of Kyiv reviewed the claim and dismissed it due to procedural deficiencies.

UA.News continues to monitor developments and investigate Goldsky’s ties to the university administration, which enabled him to carry out this scheme.
