Hungary is seeing record voter turnout in the parliamentary elections—444!

Hungary is seeing record voter turnout in the parliamentary elections—444!

Voter turnout has been unusually high in Hungary's parliamentary elections, which began on the morning of April 12.

This is reported by 444!.

From the very first hours of polling station operations, turnout figures significantly exceeded the results of previous election campaigns over the past decades.

Polling stations across the country opened at 6:00 a.m. local time, and more than 260,000 people had already voted within the first hour.

This represents about 3.46% of the total number of voters, which is almost twice as much as during the 2022 elections.

This trend is particularly telling given Hungary’s overall population decline, which has reduced the number of registered voters by 166,000.

Despite demographic changes, civic engagement is showing rapid growth, even exceeding the figures from 2002.

As of 9:00 a.m., voter turnout had only increased—reaching 16.89%. By comparison, in the previous election four years ago, this figure barely exceeded 10% at the same time.

Analysts attribute this enthusiasm to the high level of political competition and the fierce struggle between the current government and opposition forces.

Every vote in this campaign could be decisive for the country’s future course.

High turnout in the morning hours usually indicates that voters from both camps have been mobilized, making it difficult to predict the final results. Polling stations will remain open throughout the day until evening.

As a reminder, in Hungary, the opposition has a chance to defeat Orbán for the first time in many years.

The opposition party “Tisa” has a chance to win two-thirds of the seats in the Hungarian parliament in the April 12 elections, which would allow it to amend the constitution and key laws.

As a reminder, despite Orbán’s obstruction, Ukraine will receive 90 billion: MPA President Galina Heylo on the EU’s plans to finance the country.

Balázs Orbán, political director to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, assured that Ukraine does not pose a military threat to his country.
