Wuhan opens events for International Day of Peace 2026 — ECNS
ECNS reports that events marking the 2026 International Day of Peace have opened in Wuhan, China. The event brought together more than 300 delegates from 60 countries to promote dialogue, mutual understanding and global solidarity.
Participants and organizers
The event was organized by the Chinese People's Association for Peace and Disarmament and the People's Government of Hubei Province. Participants included foreign political figures, peace advocates, scholars and diplomatic representatives.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres also addressed the participants in a video message.

Theme of the meeting
The event is being held under the slogan “Jointly Overcome Challenges for a Peaceful World.” Peng Qinghua, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and president of the Chinese People's Association for Peace and Disarmament, said he was ready to cooperate with the international community to implement major global initiatives and uphold the international order.
Foreign delegates called for inclusive dialogue to build a community with a shared future for humanity. Cultural performances were presented at the opening ceremony, combining traditional philosophy and artificial intelligence technologies around the themes of peace and friendship.
