Vance traveled to Pakistan for U.S.-Iran talks
U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, along with a U.S. delegation, flew to Pakistan to hold talks with Iranian officials.
The delegation also included Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
Before departure, Vance stated that U.S. President Donald Trump had given the negotiating team clear instructions regarding Washington’s position, but did not disclose any details.
According to him, the U.S. is counting on constructive talks but is prepared to respond firmly if Iran takes an insincere stance.
The talks are expected to begin later today.
As a reminder, U.S. President Donald Trump is demanding that European allies present concrete plans within a few days to ensure the safety of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
Recall that U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he agreed to a two-week ceasefire with Iran, during which the parties plan to finalize a definitive agreement.
Iran has agreed to open the Strait of Hormuz to shipping for two weeks—the duration of the ceasefire with the U.S. This agreement is part of broader negotiations aimed at de-escalation in the region.
According to anonymous sources, Chinese officials held talks with Iranian representatives to encourage Tehran to cooperate and facilitate a ceasefire with the United States.
