Video: 15 people were injured after a tram collision in the Netherlands

Two trams collided in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, injuring 15 people.

The accident involving the two trams occurred around 11 a.m. on the Erasmus Bridge in central Rotterdam. As a result of the collision, one of the trams derailed.

According to available video footage of the incident, the first tram drove onto the bridge and stopped there, while the one behind it crashed into it at full speed. According to witnesses, the force of the impact caused passengers to fall to the floor and be thrown from their seats by the momentum.

Fifteen people were injured; most of them received first aid at the scene. Five required hospitalization, and one person sustained serious injuries. Initial reports indicated 18 injured, but the revised figures were later revised downward.

One of the hospitalized victims is the driver of the tram that was traveling behind. Tests confirmed that he was sober.

Following the incident, tram service across the bridge was suspended, affecting several routes.
