Video: Protesters gathered near the White House in Washington to protest Xi Jinping's visit
On Thursday, several hundred protesters gathered near the White House to protest Chinese leader Xi Jinping’s state visit to the U.S. The protesters spoke out against his visit to Washington.
The protesters’ chants of “Xi Jinping must go” and “Shame!” echoed through loudspeakers all the way to the North Portico of the White House, where a red carpet had been rolled out for guests attending the state dinner.

Protesters held Tibetan flags, called for freedom for Tibet, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, and demanded democracy, freedom of speech, and freedom of religion in China. Some activists came dressed as Winnie the Pooh, a character used to mock the Chinese leader, while others demanded an end to the dictatorship and the release of those imprisoned for their religious beliefs.
