Video: "Putin Can Only Be Stopped by Action, Not Words" — Senator Schumer

U.S. Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer stated on August 7 that the new bill on “hellish sanctions” is intended to demonstrate to Moscow Washington’s readiness to support Ukraine for as long as necessary.

During the debate on Senator Lindsey Graham’s sanctions initiative, Schumer emphasized that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin responds not to statements, but to concrete actions.

“Criminals like Putin don’t pay attention to what we say, only to what we do. He can be stopped by actions, not words,” the senator said.

Schumer also cited U.S. intelligence assessments indicating that Russia may attempt to attack a NATO country to test the West’s readiness to respond.

He also criticized the policies of U.S. President Donald Trump, accusing him of attempting to reach agreements with Russia by making concessions to Moscow.

As a reminder, a debate has begun in the U.S. over a package of severe sanctions against Russia.

Prior to this, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting on sanctions against Russia and instructed officials to prepare a plan for a special sanctions operation. According to him, it should significantly restrict the operations of the Russian military-industrial complex and prevent Moscow from quickly adapting to the new restrictions.

On August 6, the United Kingdom expanded its sanctions against Russia, adding 19 new items to the list. The restrictions target Russian banks, energy and industrial companies, as well as tankers that transported oil, petroleum products, and liquefied natural gas, thereby supporting Russia’s military economy.
