Video: An unusual burger with chocolate cookies has gone viral at McDonald’s in the U.S.

An unusual McDonald’s menu combination, which users have dubbed the “Cookie McDouble,” is gaining popularity on social media in the U.S. This strange-looking combination consists of a chocolate cookie with crumbs inside a Double Cheeseburger.

 

Numerous videos on TikTok have made this unusual recipe go viral. McDonald’s has even responded to it.

To recreate the trend, order a Double Cheeseburger and a chocolate cookie with chocolate chips, then place the cookie inside the burger.

A video featuring this combination was posted on TikTok by user realjonaee_. It has already garnered over 10 million views. The official McDonald’s account also took notice of the video.

“I stopped asking questions after that,” McDonald’s representatives wrote in the comments.

Food blogger Hungry4Munchies also decided to try the “Cookie McDouble” after his followers repeatedly sent him the original video.

The blogger ordered a Double Cheeseburger and a warm chocolate chip cookie. He said he used to work at McDonald’s but had never thought to combine these two items. After the first bite, his opinion of the unusual combination changed.

“You don’t get the full sensation right away. At first, it feels like there’s another layer in your Double Cheeseburger. Then the sugar starts to kick in,” he said.

In the comments on this video, you can also see a McDonald's representative who wrote that he was “the first of his kind to see this.”

The trend caught the attention of several McDonald’s executives. In particular, Guillaume Wen, head of global brand strategy, posted his own take on the “Cookie McDouble” on X.

According to him, the combination worked better than he expected, especially when the chocolate began to melt from the heat of the beef patty.

Wen advised ordering the Double Cheeseburger without mustard, ketchup, or onions. He recommends placing the cookie between the bottom bun and the first patty, as this makes the burger easier to eat.

He noted that the taste seemed unusual at first, but in the center of the cookie, where there was more chocolate, the combination became more apparent. The warm chocolate, combined with the beef and cheese, created a different texture and flavor.

Ukrainian McDonald’s locations do not currently offer this chocolate cookie on their menu. Therefore, it won’t be possible to recreate the viral “Cookie McDouble” using the original recipe at Ukrainian restaurants.

Despite his positive impression, Wen wasn’t sure he’d order this burger again, as he prefers traditional McDonald’s combinations, according to Dexerto.
