Armenia will hold joint exercises with NATO, involving the United States, France, and Greece
Armenia will conduct the Eagle Partner-2026 joint military exercises together with the United States, France, and Greece. The exercises will take place within the country from June 17 to 25.
As noted by the Armenian Ministry of Defense, the exercises are part of preparations for military personnel to participate in international peacekeeping missions.
Units from the four countries will participate in Eagle Partner-2026. Armenia will be represented by a peacekeeping brigade of 250 military personnel. The United States will be represented by 58 personnel from the U.S. Army in Europe and Africa, as well as the Kansas National Guard. France will send 24 military personnel to the exercises, and Greece will send 11.
During the exercises, participants will practice planning and executing peacekeeping operations, inter-unit coordination, force management, and tactical communications.
The Armenian Ministry of Defense emphasized that the main goal of the exercises is to enhance the interoperability of military contingents during international missions, exchange experience, and strengthen the readiness of Armenian peacekeeping forces.
The ministry also noted that similar exercises with partner states are conducted on a regular basis.
Earlier, Belarus’s self-proclaimed president, Alexander Lukashenko, called on the Collective Security Treaty Organization to be more diplomatic in its relations with Yerevan.
Yerevan stated that it may resort to tough measures if the price of Russian gas rises. Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan noted that the country would consider withdrawing from the CSTO and the EAEU if Russia takes such a step.
Armenia has appealed to the EU to send a rapid response team to counter Russian influence.
