Iranian attack halts operations at the Khabsan gas plant in the UAE — Bloomberg

The gas giant Hubshan, located in the United Arab Emirates, was forced to completely suspend all operations for the second time.

Bloomberg reports this.

The shutdown was caused by a massive fire triggered by yet another Iranian attack on the region’s infrastructure.

The fire broke out after debris from an Iranian aerial target fell onto the facility’s grounds. Although air defense systems activated and neutralized the threat, the damage caused by the impact proved critical to the plant’s safe operation.

Khabshan plays a key role in the energy security of the United Arab Emirates, as it is the main hub for the collection and processing of natural gas.

It is from this facility that fuel is distributed for domestic consumption throughout the country.

In addition to the gas infrastructure, the complex houses strategically important oil facilities.

Habshan serves as the starting point for the massive ADNOC oil pipeline, which connects the fields to the port of Fujairah on the coast of the Gulf of Oman.

The importance of this logistics route cannot be overstated, as the port of Fujairah is located outside the Strait of Hormuz.

This allows the UAE to export energy resources even if Iran blocks this narrow sea route.

The repeated shutdown of the Khabsha plant poses significant risks to the stability of the global energy market.

Constant attacks on such facilities highlight the vulnerability of critical infrastructure amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.

As a reminder, the U.S. is surprised by the scale of Iran’s strike.

Iran may also emerge from the war even stronger.
