At least two killed in Israeli strikes in Gaza — Asharq Al-Awsat

At least two Palestinians were killed and several others were injured in two separate Israeli strikes in the Gaza Strip, Palestine, on Monday. Asharq Al-Awsat reported this, citing the enclave’s medics.

Strike on a house in Gaza City

According to medics, one woman was killed in a strike on the roof of a house in Gaza City. Her husband and other people were injured. The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the strike.

Another woman was killed and other people were injured after a strike on the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central part of the Gaza Strip, medics said. The Israeli army said it had struck a militant in Nuseirat but provided no further details.

Casualties and the ceasefire regime

Palestinian authorities claim that more than 73,000 people have been killed since the start of the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip, launched after an attack by Hamas-led militants on southern Israel in October 2023. According to the data cited in the report, about 1,200 people were killed in Israel at that time.

The ceasefire brokered by the United States last year provides for the further reconstruction of the territory. At the same time, negotiators have yet to agree on the terms for disarming Hamas and withdrawing Israeli troops, while Israeli airstrikes continue.

Statements by the sides on violations of the agreement

According to Gaza Strip health authorities, at least 1,400 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have been killed there since the truce took effect. The Israeli military, for its part, says that four Israeli servicemen have been killed. Israel and Hamas accuse each other of violating the ceasefire agreement.
