Xiaomi driver involved in Chengdu crash was speeding over 200 km/h

A Xiaomi SU7 sedan was involved in a traffic accident during the night of 13 October 2025 in Chengdu, Sichuan province. According to Caixin citing a forensic medical report, the driver was travelling at 203 km/h, which resulted in a collision with another vehicle and subsequent car fire.

At the time of impact, the car's speed reduced to 167 km/h before hitting a curb, triggering a battery short circuit and fire. Due to the crash, the car’s electronic door systems and exterior handles ceased functioning, locking the driver inside. It is suspected that the man named Deng was intoxicated at the time.

The driver has been found guilty of causing the accident due to alcohol impairment, highlighting the critical importance of road safety rules and responsible driving behaviour.
