Dutch gas reserves fall to historic low
In March, gas reserves in the Netherlands fell to a historic low, with gas storage facilities only 9% full, according to Marie-Lou Gregoir, a representative of the company Gasunie. The reserves are effectively depleted, with part of the remaining gas classified as technical gas.
This highlights significant pressure on the country’s energy security amid global supply challenges. The low reserve levels could complicate the heating season and increase reliance on imports.
Going forward, stronger measures may be necessary to boost reserves or secure alternative energy sources to ensure stable supply.
