Revolut's founder is on trial for purchasing a superyacht worth 300 million euros

A lawsuit has been filed in London against Revolut CEO and co-founder Mykola Storonskyi.

Yacht broker Cecil Wright & Partners accuses the billionaire of evading payment of 17.5 million euros in commissions during the purchase of a superyacht worth approximately 300 million euros.

According to the lawsuit, Storonsky’s family office approached the brokers to find a yacht to use while another vessel was under construction. The company claims it found a suitable option but was subsequently deliberately excluded from the deal.

The yacht was originally commissioned by Canadian businessman Patrick Doidge, after which the construction rights were transferred to a buyer from Brazil. When the buyer was arrested on suspicion of fraud, Doidge reacquired the rights to the vessel and arranged for its direct sale to Storonsky.

The plaintiffs believe that Storonsky and Dovidge knowingly entered into the deal without a broker to avoid paying commissions and reduce the final purchase price. The businessman himself has not yet publicly commented on these allegations.

The European Central Bank imposed strict restrictions on Revolut in July 2025 due to concerns over the overly rapid launch of products without analyzing their impact on capital.  The regulator imposed a ban on launching new products in the European market, as well as a global moratorium on customer acquisition and mergers and acquisitions, as the company prepares for an IPO valued at $75 billion.
