Zelenskyy announces 50 agreements worth over €1 billion — The Guardian

During the founding summit of the Carpathian Eight in western Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the signing of 50 agreements worth more than €1 billion in total. According to The Guardian, more than half of the agreements concern energy, including solar and wind generation. Zelenskyy said their goal was energy independence from Russia, the aggressor state.

Participants in the format

Romania, Serbia, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary and the European Union joined the new trade and security format. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Romanian President Nicușor Dan took part in the first meeting.

Trade and transport

Zelenskyy thanked regional partners for maintaining trade and transport links after Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022. According to him, the new initiative is intended to bring the countries closer together and create another mechanism for cooperation at the EU level.
