Zelenskyy Congratulated the New Prime Minister of the United Kingdom

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated Andy Bernam on assuming the office of Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. The head of state thanked London for its support of Ukraine and stated that he looks forward to continued close cooperation between the two countries.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated Andy Burnham on his official inauguration as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.  In his post, Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine is ready to continue cooperating with the new head of the British government in every possible way. “We greatly appreciate the political, defense, and values-based support from the UK,” the president wrote.

According to Zelenskyy, relations between Ukraine and the United Kingdom are currently at a very high level, and the partnership between the countries is only growing stronger. “The foundation of our bilateral relations is stronger than ever, and we will continue to make each other stronger,” he noted.

The president also said he looks forward to speaking with the new British prime minister in the near future. “I look forward to our conversation later today,” Zelenskyy added.

The United Kingdom remains one of Ukraine’s key allies. Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, London has provided Kyiv with military, financial, humanitarian, and political support, and has actively participated in international initiatives in support of Ukraine. Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly emphasized that they expect to maintain a close partnership with the British government even after a change in its leadership. The president’s statement indicates Kyiv’s readiness to continue an active dialogue with the new prime minister and to work toward further strengthening bilateral relations. The head of state published the statement on the social media platform X.

There has been a change in the UK’s prime minister. Labour Party leader Andy Burnham has officially become the new head of government, succeeding Keir Starmer. After meeting with King Charles III, he was tasked with forming a new government.
